Avowed released on February 18th, 2025 on Xbox Game Pass, Steam, and Battle.net.
In April of 2022 I joined the Avowed team at Obsidian Entertainment as an Area Designer. In June of 2022 I was promoted to the role of Region Director. In my Area Designer role, I contributed directly to area layouts, combat feel, and quest pacing. In my Region Director role, I oversaw that same work on a larger scale, working with my interdisciplinary team to bring to life the local stories and gameplay goals of specific regions of the game world.
My contributions to Avowed include:
- The level & quest design of Fort Northreach (the game’s prologue) from documentation, to blockout, to shipped product
- Direction of level & quest design for Dawnshore (the first major region), Emerald Stair (the second major region), The Garden (the final small region), and The Siege of Paradis (the epilogue)
- Level design in a smattering of areas across the regions I was responsible for directing, including: Dawnshore’s Lighthouse, Overgrown Frontier, Pilgrim’s Path, The Rise, and Southern Embrace; and Emerald Stair’s Delemgan Glade perimeter, Naku Tedek Grounds, and Southern Riverbed
- The level design and technical scripting of the finale encounter with Inquisitor Lödwyn in The Siege of Paradis
- All tutorial implementation, writing, and media capture
- Establishing and maintaining the project-wide Actor Outliner folder structure
- Various editor-only design aids and metric tools for visualizing parkour heights, jump distances, fall damage, intentional sightlines, and travel speed—all used by the full team of Area Designers, Environment Artists, and World Builders
- All cutscene-scripted and world-ambient controller rumble implementation across the full game
- Placement and tuning of dynamic music volumes that elevate the mix for key story beats and scenic vistas in all regions

For Gamescom 2024, I had the unique honor to help run Avowed‘s very first hands-on press demo, where journalists and creators were able to play an hour of content in the “Dawntreader” quest and dungeon—content for which I served as Region Director!
